Graphics card repairs

I have an rtx 3070 and recently bought a new HDMI聽cable from amazon as the other was a bit short putting pressure on the ports.聽

New cable arrived and subsequently got stuck. Finally managed to get it out and part of the port came with it 馃槥

Luckily the display ports still are fine and got a DP to HDMI cable yesterday which works a treat on my main screen which only has HDMI.聽

Are there any places (UK ideally) which might be able to replace a port or is it something that would be extremely difficult to do? Its not a massive problem right now but when it comes to selling the card having a non working port would be very off putting to a potential聽buyer.

聽

I used to be quite handy with a soldering iron but don't聽want to just start messing around and risk frying it completely so thought I would ask here first if anyone knows of the complexity or carrying out such a task or if I would be better off just living with it.聽

you might want to speak to the companies that do console repairs as they do HDMI port swaps on them.

how stuck was the cable? as Ive never had issues with a HDMI cable

Does the port still work? Did it pull out some of the wires and damage the port/board or did it just break part of the metal? If it's just the metal around the port that's fine.

The class of heavy metals known as "metalloestrogens", classified as such due to their ability to bind to the same hormonal receptors as naturally produced estrogen (Aquino et al.), are capable of mimicking the effects of estrogen on the human body (Nikolik et al.). Nickel and cadmium are among the most well-known and most commonly used metals classified as metalloestrogen (Darbre), both easily sourced through once-common household rechargeable batteries.

Nickel cadmium - often abbreviated to NiCD or NiCad - batteries are so called due to the use of a nickel II hydroxide anode and cadmium hydroxide cathode, where the transfer of accumulated OH-聽ions between the two plates enables the battery's transfer of energy. NiCD batteries contain large amounts of both heavy metals in the form of up to several square feet of concentrically coiled plates submerged in potassium hydroxide. Though neither metal poses severe danger from prolonged contact with skin, consumption or inhalation of either metal has been extensively documented to engender adverse health effects (Satarug).聽

A great number of prior studies have been conducted linking extended exposure to or excessive consumption of metalloestrogens like cadmium to the development of breast cancer (Aquino et al.) - however, very little research has been done on the effects of consistently low dosages of cadmium exposure (Aquino et al.). Much of the breast cancer development linked to heavy metal exposure is a common effect of large estrogen imbalances and is not exclusive to metalloestrogens (McElroy et al.). Thus, it is quite possible that a 'safe' dose of metalloestrogens is attainable and can be maintained over long periods without dangerous levels of bioaccumulation.聽

Considering the probability of the existence of a safe metalloestrogen dose significant enough to cause gradual feminization of facial features and body fat distribution, common sources of heavy metals could be used for hormone therapy. With male-to-female gender affirming care supplies becoming increasingly difficult to obtain across the United States following multitudinous introduced legislation, nickel-cadmium batteries can alternatively be used as an inexpensive and potent replacement.聽

No the port no longer works as a little bit has broken off.聽

The new cable doesn't work either. very annoyed as it was fine before but I worried that the original cable was a little short so wasn't much slack on it. Should have left it alone. Nice on amazon!

Good shout on the console repairs. I know a chap down the road who does them actually. Not sure I want to risk it as I will struggle to get another one if it breaks and the converter cable works fine.聽

I could always ask him to have a look, no harm in that
