laptop freezing

So recently I've started experiencing a lot of freezes on my laptop. During these freezes my game is still running and I can still hear my friends in discord and I am still able to see my mouse moving. Its like only my screens freeze, not the pc. Although this did seam to happen under a bit of heavier loads, it has also happened when I just rest my entire pc and was downloading stuff on steam again and just alt-tabbed. It seams to happen a lot when alt tabbing but usually only in game. I did just now request an RMA but i would like to know where this problem originated from because to me it came out of nowhere and feels like a hardware issue.

That’s not totally impossible I guess. Things get tough with laptops though because they’re not atx.  A manufacturer can do Just about anything they like with them.  Could also be software though.
