TLDR: Got a virus and tried a fresh install. Install keeps crashing and failing even on the latest media creation tool and a new ssd. Do I need to buy a new motherboard as does that register it is as a fresh new build?

I have had this pc about a year and I’ve had a few issues with it - just drivers really. But then about a week ago when I launched some programs it said they didn’t have wifi even though I could still easily access my browser and I couldn’t install anything. I did a windows defender scan and I found something called Trojan.something (can’t remember what but didn’t seem good).

I then proceeded to do a fresh install of windows from a windows boot usb stick from about 18months ago which I first used to set it up last august. When I tried it I ended up getting loads of bluescreens from failed windows updates. I tried about 10 times

I downloaded the latest media creation tool on another device and tried that on a usb on a new m.2 nvme drive but now I get less progress. Before even entering the network settings it’ll crash saying windows failed to install and on the lines of corrupt files.

Would buying a new motherboard be a shout to register as a new build. I can’t update bios as I can’t get to windows. I was thinking something like the ASUS ROG Strix B450F as that would fit better in my H510 case.

Has anyone got any suggestions on how to fix it? Many thanks

I would first start with uninstalling devices that are related to the errors in your device manager and check the box for  "delete driver software" when prompted on them, reboot and try installing any updates they may have, doing clean installs when applicable.

Sorry I probably edited my post. Refresh plz. Build Specs Below.

I've had problems once or twice main problem was a black screen like display active but black on a build I was doing for someone else with the same motherboard I use. So not to sure if a motherboard could be messing with the OS. As fixed by just getting new Media Creation Tool.

This is how I install OS a haven't had problem since what I mentioned.

Do a new clean install of windows and do not connect to internet during installation. Disable all "spyware" if you want some of them for your use then go ahead enable some, then connect to the internet via Ethernet cable or WiFi once to desktop. Go to updates and wait for all updates for windows to finish downloading before you restart or touch any application setups or files till all updates are finished and none are left. Then you can install all your applications.

Have you tried this?

If you can enter bios try and get a bios update from a friends PC or library.

As @mr fobs said as well.
