I have a 10850K, started getting some overheating issues a little while ago, my computer fans started to become very loud after a short period of time, I found out that my CPU was reaching to temps of 100 degrees.

I re-applied paste and the issue was still occurring, I found that by setting my bios to default and save was solving the issue though after shutting the computer down the issue would still occur, did a hard restart of the bios but it work for a short period of time then I my cpu would run at 100 degrees again, I've had the computer sent away and had the CPU and GPU replaced (pretty sure nothing was wrong with them in the first place), the issue was still occurring on return of the computer, I formatted my M.2 drive and fresh installed windows and still nothing.

If I restart my computer 3 or 4 times the CPU temps stay below 30 idle and below 40 get under load from games.

Please help!

yikes airflow in the case looks pretty awful. and considering the cpu does ruun hot and the cooler itself isn't exactly super high end i think a mixture of these issues are resulting at these temps.

That would make sense though once I restart my computer or reset the bios I can play games and put the cpu under heavy load and not have an issue.

Very poor airflow case.

Not a good cpu cooler either.

Probably has cheaper fans if its a prebuilt.

If you don't want to swap out the entire case, get a better AIO and noctua case fans at least.

Other option is underclocking/all that

These prebuilt company's are placing way too high end of CPU's and GPU's into super low end cases with low end cpu coolers that can't handle it, and then throwing in terrible case fans on top of that.

If I reset the bios or restart it 3 times, my cooling issues are solved, the cpu runs less than 30 idle and under 60 on very heavy loads, never had an issue with the GPU overheating just the CPU Im assuming the cooler may have a start up issue where the pump might not start correctly everytime,

What do you think?

Odd. Im def not a aio expert I have only ever had one.

Id suggest trying to disable fast startup under the system setting define what power buttons do settings.

Edit: Perhaps the aio is plugged into a faulty port? I don't know if all headers support aios

I'll have a look to see I did see that someone changed where the cooler was plugged into and it worked but their cooler wasn't cooling the cpu at all.

Thanks!

Do you have any intake fans? Is your AIO front intake or top exhaust? How are your temps with the side panel off?

Probably need 3 front intake fans in that case to get any airflow and you'll still have less than good temps.

You might have better temps using the rear fan as intake with your AIO as top exhaust, you will not have any dust filters though.

Plug the pump into the CPU header and manually set the pump to 100% in the BIOS, plug the radiator fans into the system fan headers and set them to 100%. See if your temps are great. If they are you can turn your fans down to what ever is acceptable noise/performance for you. You can turn down your pump some too, just make sure its fast enough to start up. A flat constant rate for the pump is good.

IMO a new mesh case is worth considering.

Everyone is talking about poor case airflow like it is the end all and be all of overheating issues.

What software are you using to monitor temps? different software produce different readings. Try different software and see what the readings say.

According to HWmonitor, my CPU is ice cold. Yeah right...

If you still think it is a overheating issue try this: open the side panel so the components can breathe and use the PC as you normally would.

If the temps don't improve, point a desk fan in there and try again. If the temps still don't improve its another issue.

Check the following.

  • What software is used to monitor temps? (diff temps reported by diff software)
  • Is it just incorrect reporting of temp numbers?
  • Do you have an overclock running? multi-core enhancement (or whatever brand equivalent name) still counts as an OC.
  • Thermal paste application, is there enough?
  • Mounting pressure of cooler - how much? hopefully not too much.
  • Where is the radiator mounted? a top mount is best, a front mount is ok, a bottom mount is a no no.
  • Case fan and cooler fan orientation, intake/exhaust does matter.
  • Case fans and CPU cooler plugged into right headers, different RPMs for each, refer to your mobo manual.
  • What type of fans are mounted? Static pressure vs High flow matters
  • BIOS fan curve - what is it set to?
  • Check for fan control software that is conflicting with the bios fan control
