Lenovo Y530 Network Issues

I recently got a Lenovo Y530, and while it's been mostly great, for whatever reason when connected to wifi it has a habit of either cutting out but displaying that the network is fine, or saying that the access point has no internet, when it works on my phone/other devices. Wifi is a bit spotty in my room but when i had an older macbook air i never had an issue, is this just a limitation of the wifi card, or something i should be worried about.

Thanks in advance!

Realtek is garbage. I have an 8821CE and that does exactly the same thing, and multiple Realtek adapters have this issue. The only real fix for this is to switch it with a different adapter, and it better not be a Realtek adapter.

Ah ok, thank you for the response! Any recs on a replacement?

Intel WiFi seems to be a good choice, but I'm not sure if you can get it since they are geared more towards SI or OEM. I'm using Intel WiFi AX 200 currently. I don't think your device support this WiFi.

But in any case, Lenovo do list their compatible FRU (Factory Replaceable Unit) parts for your system. According to the user manual: https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/legiony530-15ich_y530-15ich-1060_y7000p_y7000p-1060_hmm_201901.pdf (at page 64), they list Intel Wireless AC 9560 as compatible FRU part. Part number is 01AX768. You can try your local store to see if this part exist.

This list basically doesn't matter because most laptops don't have these whitelists anymore.

Indeed. Theoretically speaking, any M2 WiFi Bluetooth card can be installed. Though you might need to check your antenna design as some of them are not ideal for AX if you are using AC WiFi.

Intel is pretty much the way to go. AX201 should be a good replacement.

AX201 uses Intel Proprietary Interface known as CNVi and can only function if paired with supported Intel PCH (chipset). The AX200 are for general system as they uses PCIe and USB interface.

Same goes for the 9560, which, according to Intel, is also a CNVi module.

Yes indeed. However, because it is Intel proprietary design, we need to know if his existing PCH can support AX201. We also need to know if Lenovo supports CNVi or PCIe for that system. I'm not sure if both of them can be used in the same slot, and whether the electrical wiring are the same. So it is best to refer to the manual or documents from Lenovo. To my knowledge, it seems Lenovo does stated it support Intel AC 9560, but still, he is using Realtek which uses PCIe + USB, which led me to believe that perhaps they support both, but I'm still highly sceptical about this. In any case, I think he should consult Lenovo back if his system is compatible with other WiFi adapter or not.

The Bluetooth part of the adapter is pretty much always, and on every module, connected over USB. That's normal on the M.2 E-Key and A-Key.

Well, I'm not sure because over at Intel spec sheet for AC9560 (https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/99446/intel-wireless-ac-9560.html) and AX201 (https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/130293/intel-wi-fi-6-ax201-gig.html), the interface is listed as M2. CNVio. Intel AX200 does list its interface as WiFi (PCIe) and BT (USB) (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/189347/intel-wifi-6-ax200-gig/specifications.html). So, I'm not sure about Intel CNVi cards (since CNVi is proprietary), but for other cards, yes, I do agree.
