Is this switch ok?

Go to solution Solved by GhostRoadieBL,

Depending on your budget 3 switches with 4 ports should work well

https://www.amazon.ca/NETGEAR-5-Port-Gigabit-Ethernet-Unmanaged/dp/B07S98YLHM/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=gigabit+switch+5+port&qid=1625269494&sprefix=gigabit+switch&sr=8-4

These would do well, run 3 lines from the router to each switch and devices from there.

Since you are not likely to saturate a gigabit connection with anything except between the towers during large file transfers, you wouldn't have problems using multiple devices at once.

3 of those+cables will probably run in the $150ish range

For around the same price

https://www.amazon.ca/TP-Link-Deco-Whole-Home-System/dp/B07VPW6Y6G/ref=mp_s_a_1_16?dchild=1&keywords=wifi+6+mesh&qid=1625269963&sr=8-16

3 "bases" you can spread around the area (and still run wired Ethernet to) so you have wireless coverage where you want it. Ideally line of sight with your devices or in different rooms so each room has it's own wireless access point.

Way less cables and the access points all share a network together so you don't have to reconnect when moving around

Ok my use case is simply hardwiring the following devices in my house, and my internet is Fiber 100/100.

3 tvs

2 towers

1 apple tv

sonos hub

phillips hue hub

Nintendo Switch

Xbox series X

It seems like enough to me but Im not sure if I need to go to one that supports gigabit or if 10/100 is sufficient based on my internet.

unfortunately no.

That switch is a 10/100 so you would be limited to "100megabit" or 12.5 megabytes/s per device. The best term to search for is "gigabit switch" or "10/100/1000 switch"

couple questions,

Do each of the devices have ethernet connections?

Do you require internet on your TVs if you have an apple TV and consoles?

Are you planning on running multiple lines through your walls to each device back to the switch or are the devices grouped together? (ie TV, Nintendo, apple TV, and Xbox all attached to the one TV) if they are grouped together you can have a main switch with one in wall line to each of the groups being connected to a smaller switch per group

Is there anything preventing a good mesh wireless system from working in your setup?  100/100 is easily handled by a wifi6 access point (wireless router)

The best gaming PC is the PC you like to game on, how you like to game on it

Thats the kind of answer I was looking for. Something in my place causes wifi to work very poorly, hence everything hardwired. Yes stuff is grouped together in 3 places. Area one is TV, Tower, Hue Bridge, Sonos Point and Nintendo switch. Second area is TV, AppleTV, Xbox Series X and third grouping is TV and Tower. So yes I could just run one wire to each location than use individual switches in those locations, it just seemed like running one cable would be limiting but I am not a network person as you can tell  so I might be making this far more complicated than it needs to be. And yes everything has ethernet ports. I could go to a mesh setup but with the WIFI being so poor I was concerned that it might give me issues. I am in a basement suite with drop ceilings so running cables isnt an issue and I wanted reliability which is why I was thinking of going this way

Personally I wouldn't get a 10/100 switch these days. Sure, some of your devices don't need gigabit connections, but it's better to have them for the future. Plus, your internet speed isn't the only thing that matters. Local file transfers are a lot better at gigabit speeds than lower speeds.

Phobos: AMD Ryzen 7 2700, 16GB 3000MHz DDR4, ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 8GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070, 2GB Nvidia GeForce GT 1030, 1TB Samsung SSD 980, 450W Corsair CXM, Corsair Carbide 175R, Windows 10 Pro

Polaris: Intel Xeon E5-2697 v2, 32GB 1600MHz DDR3, ASRock X79 Extreme6, 12GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080, 6GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, 1TB Crucial MX500, 750W Corsair RM750, Antec SX635, Windows 10 Pro

Pluto: Intel Core i7-2600, 32GB 1600MHz DDR3, ASUS P8Z68-V, 4GB XFX AMD Radeon RX 570, 8GB ASUS AMD Radeon RX 570, 1TB Samsung 860 EVO, 3TB Seagate BarraCuda, 750W EVGA BQ, Fractal Design Focus G, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

York (NAS): Intel Core i5-2400, 16GB 1600MHz DDR3, HP Compaq OEM, 240GB Kingston V300 (boot), 3x2TB Seagate BarraCuda, 320W HP PSU, HP Compaq 6200 Pro, TrueNAS CORE (12.0)

Thank you very much for the suggestion, I will likely just go this route. I appreciate the help
