alien ware x17

Hey guys! I just have a general question for anyone ? my friend is interested in getting a gaming laptop and has it eye on alien ware x17, specs are

  • 11th Generation Intel® Core™ i9 11980HK (8-Core, 24MB L3 Cache, up to 5.0GHz with Turbo BoostTechnol.
  • Windows 10 Home English.
  • NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3080 8GB GDDR6.
  • 32GB DDR4 3200MHz.
  • 1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive.
  • Lunar Light with High Endurance Clear Coat designed for stain resistance.

and from what i see, those are some pretty great specs but i would like other people input on this particular laptop?

I'd be wary of the 3080 in that form factor (super slim). The mobile 3080s haven't fared well when thermally constrained, often getting beat by 3070s in the same laptop brand and style. They also get way hotter, to the point of actually being uncomfortable. Otherwise, specs are good.

so should he look for a lower graphics card in a laptop ?
