I have a Dell Precision T5500 workstation with dual Xeon X5690's, 8gb ddr3 ECC RAM, & a Quadro P4000. I bought it for the Quadro to put in my dream workstation build with a Ryzen 9 5950x or a Threadripper. But, looking around ebay, selling the cpu cores is @ max $130, the PSU $30, the disk drive $20, the Mobo is useless, idk who'd buy the RAM, and the case is worth less than it'd cost to ship it.

that leaves 3 options:

1. Part it out & make money where I can

2. Keep it as a server & build a home network

3. Take other suggestions from the internet

Internet, 1, 2, or 3?

I suggest you keep it , no one likes to buy old parts anymore unless they want something cheaper and to use for basic things

Eg:-Watching videos

You can get a gaming PC for cheap nowadays .

You can take apart your parts and try to get as much gold out of it , that way you make profit .But you'd have to pay for labour unless you can do it yourself , and it's a lot of work , do it if you really wanna do it.

I'm leaning towards keeping it and using it as a home server or as a second pc just in case .

I would just use it to run folding@home tbh, might aswell not have it be a useless brick thats sitting there doing nothing xD

Though you are better off parting it out i think, x5690s are quite sought after and have a pretty high price compared to w3670, w3680, x5675, etc. Like 50-70$ on aliexpress and im not sure on ebay.

Not sure if anyone would want a dual socket anyways, maybe just sell the xeons and swap them for e5645, l5640, x5650, 5660, or x5670, then sell the entire thing, just pick whichever xeon has good $ per core and per ghz

Well one of those CPUs is so weak sauce idk who'd want it if it wasn't dual socket. I'd rather sell it as a unit than sell some parts to buy others then sell it again.
