Dead hard drive

Not detected and dead are not the same thing.  It MIGHT be dead but it also might just not be detected for whatever reason.  
 

I might check the cabling to make sure both data and power are actually functioning, then perhaps look in bios rather than windows because windows being stupid is a thing.  Might also double check with a linuxliveCD on a thumb drive if I was still having trouble finding it. 

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.
