For 550$ it's going to be hard to upgrade all of this. But, I would probably put an SSD, upgrade the video card, buy a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 for the CPU heatsink, change de MOBO for a Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 and add a great case from Corsair.

Here it is :

Gigabye 990FXA-UD3 : 145$ (Currently in sale at NCIX)

CoolerMaster Hyper212 : 30$

AMD 7870 : Approximatly 230$ (Depending n the brand)

Samsung 840 120Gb : 100$ (Currently in sale at NCIX)
Corsair Carbie 300R : 80$

Total : 585$ + Tx + Shipping

So, save some more money, price match the heck out of it and you've got yourself a great gaming computer.

EDIT : Currently, I'll go with AMD GPU because, if you watched Linus' videocards roundups, you know that AMD is the best bang for the buck right now.
