Dumpster Server !

Hello my name is Michael i`m from Romania and i found this server motherboard at my uncle

who recycles pc`s and he got it from a guy that founded it in a dumpster....

It was all dirty and it had just 2 cpu`s ( xeon 3.06Ghz)

i took it wash it and then i started searching where i could get a cooler

i found one but it was way toooo expensive so i searched in my box of

old pc stuff (i refurbish old pc`s in my free time and make money off them) and foud

a old 939 socket cooler and rigged a lock system with L brackets and some

old screws it work`s perfectly, the motherboard is a __MS 9121__ then i

got a old PSU which is way to weak to handle it  a 1gb stick of ddr1 ram

and powered it on .

To my surprise it worked perfectly and i was amazed at it.

The temps are 40 c--45 c degrees at idle

Then i got tired of running it on a piece of wood on my desk so

me and a friend decided to make a case for it because of course we are

too cheap to buy one :) so we found a 3$ horrible looking case, and don`t worry

we paid 3$ we got 3$ i mean i could bend the case with one finger (nevermind) we modified

the case to fit the motherboard and this is it today---

My question is :

 

what software should i put on it?(i tried ubuntu server but it was too complicated )  i`m a noob at this side i mean i made a nas some time ago but that was easy all i got to do was to put FreeNas on it and it was good to go

but with this i got no idea what to use....i know a bit of basic programing if you can call it

that but i`m willing to learn

And this might sound stupid but at what can i use it at (No_Ob)

With that power you are not going to run any windows-server on it, so there isn't anything realy easier than ubuntu server. You could use it as a fileshare with NFS or run some webservers.

i`m planning to upgrade to dual 3Ghz cpu`s and 4gb of ram

that`s not enough?

As long as it supports 64Bit you should be able to run windows home server, but If you don't want to configure it with the command-line you'll have to have a graphicscard.
