RAM slots

The 1st and 2nd slots for the ram are not detecting to the ram when inserted in my motherboard, (GIGABYTE ga-h170-gaming 3), so do you think putting the rams in 3rd and 4th slot damage the pc or the ram in any way?

Try booting with just 1 memory module inserted, there is a chance one of them is broken.

Both the ram sticks are working, I had tested the individually and it booted properly.

Slots are color coded, use both slots of the same color to enjoy dual channel benefits. Might be 1 & 3 or 2 & 4. Whatever works best.

But the problem is that I have two ram sticks of 8 gb, when I put them in 1 and 3 or 2 and 4 the pc doens't detect the memory, I haven't tried putting the ram in 3 and 4, because I don't know if it would be healthy for the pc or not
