I recently finished my custom build and found out everything works except for the mic. When i plug earbuds in, the audio works as normal but the built in mic does not work. I know something is wrong with the system because this earbud works with other computers. I have also tried a different pair and found that the mic didnt work when connected to my system. Any suggestions?

(I am plugging my earbuds into my case’s audio jack, and i also tried all the other audiojacks on my motherboard [asus prime x570 pro])

The one on your case probably isn't a headphone/mic combo jack.

I use one of these:

Something likes this would work too

Go to Control Panel> Hardware and sound> Under the "Sound" section, in the middle, click "Change System Sounds", a menu will open. In that menu, go to recording tab and check if any recognizable devices show up. Also, make sure they're active. If you right click on any device you think is yours, go to properties and you can turn on their input volume. It is common for both the device, and input volume to be disabled and turned down respectively.

Come back if you have any issues finding the device, or its not there/or still doesn't work after enabling it + changing the volume.
