[SOLVED] Clone a bootable USB drive

Go to solution Solved by Kilrah,

Just use the usual Minitool partition wizard (version 11) or Macrium Reflect if you really want.

Hi :)

I have this bootable USB drive that I made using a 16GB USB dongle while only a few MB are actually required.

Now I retrieved some 2GB USB dongles and I'd like to clone the bootable USB drive onto one of these smaller dongles.

I'd also like to make some clones for backup in case the dongle gets corrupted, broken or whatever...

I know the drive contain 3 partitions.

I don't know what would be the easiest way to do this. I know there are multiple tools available and numerous options...

I was thinking (a variation of) dd in order to do a drive clone rather than a volume clone, but I believe dd will no allow me to use a smaller device as the output even if there is lots of free space on the input device.

Thoughts?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Best,

-a-

Of all things to back up you back up a thing you can make in half an hour regardless of your kernel taste. Anyway, to answer it you really cant clone a bootable USB drive because there's a whole lot more unseen things thats not gonna be copied to the other USB drive.
