Help this has happened 3 times now. Randomly the pc would just downgrade in performance and this time it just froze and had to be rebooted.

Lets start with you sharing some specs of you PC/notebook. The more the better.

Next explain in more detail what is happening and what you do to make it happen.

The more effort you put in the better the answer will be.

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!
I'm just helping YOU to help YOURSELF!
(The more info you give the easier it is for others to help you out!)

Not willing to capitulate to the ignorance of the masses!

Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM HDD

PSU: Seasonic Focus PX-850 80+ Platinum

ConnectionWiFi (WiFi 6)

Idle CPU Clock Speeds: 4.2-4.4GHz

Idle CPU Utilization: 2-7%

Idle CPU Utilization: 1-8%

Idle (Chrome, Discord, HWMonitor) Ram Usage: ~7.2/32GB

Idle Boot Storage (980 Pro) Utilization: 1-4%

Idle CPU Temps: 38-42C

Light Usage CPU Temps: 45-50C

Light Gaming CPU Temps: ~60C

Cinebench R23 Temp: 82-84C

GPU temps never went above 60 even under gaming

Idle Boot SSD (980 Pro): ~49C

Idle SSD (MP600): ~49C

Idle HDD: ~39C

Idle RAM Temps: ~40C and ~42C

No overclocking or tweaks to the BIOS were made (Except changing default RAM speeds to advertised speeds).

[The Problem]

So the system just starts to stop working randomly. The only applications I am aware of that are open are discord, chrome and HW Monitor. It happened twice during just watching youtube videos and once during a discord call. It starts slow with chrome tabs not responding very fast. From there, certain applications start to not respond, either being stuck on the screen or not able to be popped up from the taskbar. Pressing control + alt + delete or trying to open task manager from the taskbar didn't even show response from the screen. As far as I know the CPU didn't spike up in load as the fans didn't ramp up. In the end nothing would respond at all, so I held down the start button and shut down and rebooted the pc.

After the reboot, everything seems fine.

That incident happened two times, the third time was different. All of a sudden, while just watching youtube, the display froze. The audio was still playing but moving the mouse didn't move the cursor. Even the dedicated media keys on teh keyboard didn't pause the video. So I held down the start button once more and shut down and rebooted the pc.
