I will recommend getting the GTX 670 instead of 660Ti. Price difference isn't much but you will see significant performance increase.

No point when he said he doesn't need that much power. Might as well save some money.Anyway there isn't actually that much difference between them.

I recommend the 7950 Over both 660ti and 670 due to the fact that the 7950 is an amazing overclocker and provides an amazing value. Watch the videos linus posts of the gpu showdown, the 7950 goes strong on all of the tests.

The gigabyte board supposedly can't overclock very well, but I could be wrong.  Though if this is true then you might want look into a different board such as the asus, but it is much more expensive.   There is still a large chance that I am mistaken, though, and the board could be fine, but it is something you should look into since you're getting an unlocked processor and water cooling.  I also agree that you should look into getting an amd card because they are doing really well right now, beating the nvidia cards for the same price and sometimes more, and you get some free games.

the last time i had an AMD card (4/5 years ago) they were not that good. that's why i went to nvidia. have they improved there drivers ect since then?

Yes they release beta drivers alot and they fix whats wrong with the beta fast.

AMD graphics cards have huge problems when used in Crossfire. If he ever decides to buy second graphics card, he will face frame timing problems. I know that AMD are working on that problem and have already released Prototype driver to some reviewers, but this driver is far from finished. It will need at least 3-4 months till AMD release beta. So at this time i cant recommend AMD GPU.

Sorry if my English is not perfect, but it isn't my native language :)

I think he should go with the evga z77 stinger mini itx motherboard. It overclocks very well for the size and evga packs alot of features in a small little board. I will link you the product, and i will link you a video about it on the tek syndicate channel.

He is going to have a mini-itx build so there is no possibility that he can have crossfire.  So amd is still a very good option, however you do make a good point.  Also I'm not sure if the h100 can fit inside of the prodigy you may have to get the h80 instead.

a possible alteration is downgrading to a air cooler (or sticking with stock) then getting a 3770k with the money u save... then later get the h100

I would but the 3770k is about £100 more expensive and i don't think i will need the power behind it. i wont be doing much video stuff on it.

thanks :)
