GPU: PNY GTX 1060 6 GB OC

CPU: Ryzen 5 2600

RAM: 2x Maxsun DDR4 2666 ( working at 3200 )

Power: Aerocool 400W Plus White Full Range

Mobo: Biostar TB350

So guys i've been having this problem in a long time, all parts mentioned above have less than a year of usage, and all of them are new, i've been having some really weird gpu usage spikes or most of the time stuck below 50%.

which i dont know if it has anything to do with my problem, but because of that it feels like all my games are not holding the fps as minimum it should, sea of thieves sometimes get 80-90 fps and all of the sudden it drops to 56-60, or most of the time i get drops from 90 to 55 nonstop

i know that the 1060 is a really old gpu, but it's working as bad as my old 650 ti, need help asap before i hammer my computer

When the gpu is low usage is the cpu also low usage?  ‘Cause if it’s pinned it’s a different thing.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Can you download 3DMark Firestrike and run the benchmark?

50% CPU usage? That doesn't seem right.

cpu usage is most of the time low like shown above, there's even sometimes that it falls to 34% usage

ok so, i did the benchmark again with afterburner open and the GPU was actually hitting its 90-100% usage, but get this, the cpu wasnt using more than 20% the entire benchmark, what the fuck xd

If Both the cpu and gpu low is a problem it can mean low level software stuff that can be situational. Only one of them low means either one is much weaker than the other, the app being run is just hitting that bit harder than the other bits, or in the case of a cpu working really hard and a gpu not so much sometimes can be background apps.  Might want to check HDWINFO to see what else might be goin on when the benchmark is running.

aight, going to install and benchmark, i'll give feedback later. Could you give me a hint of what should i pay attention on HWINFO?

What apps are running and how much they’re using resource wise if you see something that’s not the benchmark taking a whole bunch of cpu cycles it come under suspicion.

so i did the firestrike again, and again for my surprise, the cpu is not doing a single effort to work more, even tho it's clock is working as it should while gaming/rendering (3.75 ghz and so), and all 12 threads are working together, also something strange i noticed is that the base clock that should be while on desktop (3.40) is at 3.75 for no reason at all

i really cant figure out myself which system or part problem could be related to that, but the cpu itself, which is new. I need some real help before i empty a full 9mm magazine on this shitbox

Looking at the 3DMark stuff the gpu is pegged at 100% running part of 3DMark.  Implies it’s a pretty gpu intensive thing that just doesn’t take a lot of cpu. The 2600 isn’t super fast ghz wise.  It’s 12nm zen+ it’s got some hard memory speed limits iirc which are well below zen 2 stuff. I don’t remember what they are. Could be 3200 in which case there’s no problem, but if it’s below 3200 it might be down locking the infinity fabric from 1:1 to 2:1 if this is the case lowering the OC on your memory speed might actually make things faster.

nice, gonna try tweaking the memory later. Btw, i overclocked my 2600 to 4.0 ghz at 1.37 and it DRASTICALLY increased the fps stability no joke it even reached 70% of usage sometimes, i played gta v online on all high settings yesterday and it maintained easy 80-90 fps, but unfortunately i gotta play with vsync on because i was having some brutal fps spikes but still it played perfect locked 60 fps with almost never fps drops, maybe my samsung 24" monitor has it's refresh rate fucked up, dunno it depends of the game.

My memory is OCing some older ryzen also OCs the infinity cache depending on how you do it and it may be that it put the memory as set up in better reach.  This may imply support for the memory speed thing.
