So i recently got a 5900x,, and a X570M pro4, combined with my old be quiet dark rock pro 3.

It posts to bios, temps instantly rises to 70C according to bios, then everything shuts down. It crashes half way through booting into windows.

My question is, is it because of the BIOS being outdated, and not supporting 5000 series? Ive read that multiple people have been able to update bios just fine with it.

Or is it because I've somehow fucked up multiple tries of installing my cooler?

What do you mean fucking up your installation? Is there any damage to your components?

No damage at all, i followed the manual to point. But the screws when tightning DID not grip. So i had to redo it 2 times, and the last also was very difficult to get any sort of proper mount.

I really doubt it has anything to do with your cooler installation then. You wouldn't be posting at all in the first place if that was the case ( more than likely ).

I think this just comes down to needing a flash on your BIOS. Do you have a local computer store, or another computer that you could complete the flash with?

yeah it properly does, weird it boots into bios tho.

No sadly i dont, I think i can get a lender from AMD tho

Have you applied new thermal paste? Usually thermal paste will be useless once you take off the cooler.

Yea, and cleaned inbetwwen with alcohol wipes.

I'm assuming it doesn't crash at the bios?

It crashes the bios. Only after hitting 80-90deg celcious(194F). And doesn't turn on before lowering the temps.

I just woke up and realized that the knobs on the cooler mount was mounted upside down(the manual doesn't specify direction).

I am sadly out of thermal compound, and can't test until Monday.

But I am 90% sure it's the heat, not the bios version.

Yeah this definitely a cooler issue. Make sure to read the manual to install the mount properly. It's probably wasn't even.

it cant be the bios, then it wouldnt boot into bios at all… you said you had issues mounting the cooler so thats just far more likely.

EDIT:

The be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 67.8 CFM Fluid Dynamic Bearing CPU Cooler may require a separately available mounting adapter to fit the ASRock X570M Pro4 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard.

Do you have that required, *seperate* mounting adapter?

It eventually actually got even, it just was 5mm too high up, enough to touch thermal paste, but not make proper contact.

Thats exactly what i thought.

Yes i do have the seperate adapter.

I just mistakenly read an outdated manual, instead of spending 10m looking for the paper one included i purchased 2 years ago

Conclusion, I've confirmed the cooler was mounted inproper, and confirmed it needed to be mounted properly lol.

I am out of thermal paste till tomorrow, so i have just confirmed that everything actually fits now, without booting or anything.

Thanks for everyones help. I will give an update if it posts tomorrow.
