You can't move windows by itself. You need an amount of data that can fit on the SSD, and some cloning software (preferably a free program like macrium reflect)

How much of your 2TB hard drive is taken up? If it is small enough to fit on the 500GB SSD, then the cloning software will work fine.

Also, your original post was a little light on details. You said you installed windows on your hard drive? How long ago was that? Do you have a bunch of data on your PC that you need to keep, and that would make cloning preferable to just installing again?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

Hi I would recommend you to unplug the hdd from your pc and do a clean install.

okay, a few things:

1) is there any data you care about on your computer yet?  (No makes it easy)

2) You just reinstalled.  Do you have a USB Install Media?

So, here's what you want to do, to get everything working right:

Before anything else:  Go to Search:  ACTIVATION  and make sure windows is activated with a Digital License.  (This will mean it's got a key stored in the BIOS and you don't need to worry about it.)

1) Boot off your windows install USB.  (You may have to change BIOS Boot order, or hit a hotkey to pick it.  UEFI USB Device should be there somewhere.)

2) Go through the basic steps.  When you get to the options:  "Customize your Windows Install" is what you want to pick.

3) When it shows your Hard Drives and Partitions:   Delete all of them.  Every last partition.

4) Choose your 500GB Drive and click "New" and confirm.  This will then create s3-4 partitions on your SSD.

5) Do NOT create a partition on your 2TB Drive yet.  You can do that after windows is installed.

6) Click on the largest partition in your SSD, and click "Next / Install" (I forget what the button says)

7) Walk through the remaining steps as they're presented.  (I always use OFFLINE ACCOUNT, as opposed to a Microsoft account.  I don't need it linked.)
