wifi connectivity issues

Hi, i had some questions about my wifi. i just moved into an apartment and I've noticed that maybe every 2 or 3 hours my wifi would lose connection for a couple of seconds. even though its only a few seconds, if I'm playing a game the game will disconnect and kick me out. or if im watching youtube or netflix the video will start buffering. 

i was wondering how i would be able to fix this. would something like a gaming router help?
