Getting ''Insufficient Memory'' when playing games

Hey guys,

I was playing Borderlands 2 and Bioshock: Infinite for a short time (like 10min) and both gave me a message that i had insufficient memory. I'm kind of puzzled by that because my laptop has 8GB of RAM and a Nvidia GT740m inside it.

The laptop that i have is a MSI GP70 which i also use for school and at times when i have no desktop PC.

Because of this issue i'd like to ask some assistance in why this is happening?

Could be vram sort of running out.

I think I've gotten a message when playing AC4 that said low memory would you like to change to basic theme. (or something)

The 740M has nearly got 2GB of VRAM which is seen as quite low now, but it should enough to run games like boarderlands.

I was playing both games at 900p to get a better fps and at medium/high. Better said the settings where set in such a way that i got around the 60fps. Then about 7/10min in both games just gave me this message while the game kind of freezes.

Have you got a lot of AA on? Also have you tried playing it at a lower resolution and seeing if it runs for longer?

I had FXAA on so the edges would be a bit smoother because i was playing under the resolution of the monitor. I haven't tried playing on a even lower resolution, that does seem strange as the game does run good.

The FXAA might be eating all the VRAM. Try playing with a lower setting and see if it helps
