So here's the deal; I've got an Acer Nitro 5-54 laptop(2019) with an i5-9300H and a GTX 1050. Although these laptops are a pretty good bang for the buck, they are known for their nasty temps.

But my problem doesn't lie with high temps but rather with them being highly inconsistent. I've used HWmonitor and an OEM supplied software to measure the temps over a period of time and they are wildly fluctuating at times with a +- 10-15 degree jump a second. Any ideas to why?
Note: I had changed my thermal paste after I got pissed with the insane fluctuations.(To decrease the overall temps, which worked. Nothing for the fluctuations though).

The image below is before I changed the compound. The max temps on full load are below 87 as of now which is pretty good considering this model. The fluctuations are pretty much the same, just at lower temps.

I'm open for all ideas/suggestions alike. Thanks!

I don't have a problem with the temps but rather with the fluctuations. It can't be practically possible for a 10 degree jump in general circumstances, so what in the world is malfunctioning?
CPU temps are measured using the input voltage and load right? Maybe something there?

Nothing. Smaller the core die, harder it is to dissipate heat into the heatsink.

Okay. But why the wild fluctuations? It can't be shifting 10 degrees every second right? The GPU seems stable.
Thanks a ton!

Sudden fluctuations might be due to how often sensors poll and update the readings.

True. Now imagine the cpu polling 50 one second and 65 the other! That isn't normal, a jump would be a few degrees at max.
