Nowadays whenever I turn on my laptop I get the error saying the power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined even though I am using the official Dell 65W AC Adapter.

On continuing with F1 key my CPU clocks gets locked at 0.90GHz and never decreases or increases.

What should I do in this case?

Most likely either the adapter or the laptop's charge port is faulty / causes a bad connection and the communication between the 2 isn't happening.

Considering it is a laptop that is probably 11 years old I wouldn't be surprised the ac adapter has degraded. Fun thing is a new ac adapter costs as much as dell laptops with these specs on ebay :p.
