I have a pretty old AMD Radeon 530 installed in my laptop

One day i went to grab some snacks while watching watching you tube on it (Not LTT). When i come back i see that the laptop is frozen the mouse wont move any shortcuts are not working and the fan is still running and the cpu is getting overheated there is a popup on my screen showing display driver not responding or something .

At that time i did not had a genuine windows installed in my pc so i thought it could be an issue caused by a windows update .I had a genuine windows at my disposal but i was just too lazy to go through the whole setup but that day i thought its a sign i should reinstall a genuine one . But after installation my pc started freezing whenever i install the Radeon display driver on my pc or whenever i tried to access the Radeon graphics resources..

So after reading some articles online i used DDU to uninstall all my drivers and booted into safe mode to install the Radeon drivers and it was a success they got installed nut when i tried to boot my pc normally it again froze just before the windows startup screen. So i changed the BIOS settings to UMA only and it booted fine I again uninstalled the graphics drivers and booted with switchable graphics it worked fine.

Then some article said it could be a BIOS  issue so i updated my BIOS it did not help in my case. Then some article said that could be a windows issue so i reinstalled the pirated windows which i was previously working on and was able to access my graphics card but it did not help i faced the same issues on that windows too.

So again some article said clean the laptop and reapply the thermal compound . As my laptop was getting unusually hot i thought it could be a heating issue so i ordered some thermal compound and reapplied it on Both my GPU by following a guide specifically made for my laptop from YouTube But it still did not solve the problem .

Now i have been hoping that My GPU is not dead as it has never given me any sort of problems before this because according to the articles that i have read online GPU's normally show some signs before completely dying .

And the other thing that was convincing me that my GPU is not dead is the fact that my Laptop can detect the GPU in safe mode after driver installation.

some other things that i would like to mention :

When i run my laptop on UMA graphics only setting it is heating a lot even when i am just using the browser to watch YouTube nothing else (is it normal is it because my laptop is running on a single GPU)

Whenever i try to do some processing on the Laptop and it has been running for some time it freezes and then i have to wait for it to cool off because if i open it again instantly it runs for some time and then freezes again (Is this Normal as the laptop is using only one GPU )

What i want to know:

Could it be a software issue.(if yes please tell me )

Is it a hardware Issue.

Is my GPU dead?????

try to reset the graphic driver

To restart your graphics drivers, press Win+Ctrl+Shift+B on your keyboard. Your screen will go black for a split second and you'll hear a beep. Everything will then reappear just as it was before you pressed the hotkey. All your current applications remain open, and you won't lose any work

i could do what you asked but the problem is the laptop does not boot whenever the AMD driver is installed in it so i can only use this command to restart my intel driver .

thanks for helping anyways 🙂

Are you downloading the newest one or WHQL version?

Does the laptop boot on the basic windows display driver?

if it does try to let windows update get all your driver

Does your CPU also have a gpu? (often a thing with intel)

if so do those drivers also install?

yes i have downloaded both the newest and the WHQL versions of my graphics driver.

yes it boots on the windows basic display driver but whenever i let it get the drivers it freezes as it tries to download the Radeon display drivers too i suppose so in that case it also freezes then i have to again boot with UMA graphics only uninstall the Radeon drivers using DDU to use switchable graphics mode.

Yes i have two GPU's first the intel one and then the Radeon one

Yes the intel graphics drivers have no installation issue one so ever this problem only occurs when i try to install Radeon drivers.
