I have a HP ProDesk 600 g1 twr where I added 1 more 450GB HDD from previous PC. 2 years ago I bought graphics Radeon RX570 8GB XFX and a new PSU AKYGA AK-P3-500 Pro 500W only to realize that nither of those can fit in the box, so I got a new box for about 10$ from friend and then realized that HP mounted CPU cooler direct to the box... So i bought a new cooler. and then when i was about to remove motherboard I stoped to see if this will work with this PSU and the answer was NO, HP put a 6pin ATX connector on the MB (I hate them at this point so much)... I bought an adapter from ebay for 5$ but it got canceled cuz of Covid... Now that same adapter is listed for 20$ to 30$ and im not shure is it better to buy it again and finaly build this or to buy new components and build a brand new PC... For now I dont know hom much money I want to spend on new PC so Im asking for advice.

Ye, Oem Builders have to use a different mobo powerconnector called 12VO because of enviromental concerns, you should get a new motherboard on ebay or craigslist,

i don't know which exact cpu you have, but i googled your computers name and it looks like you have an i5 4670, and if thats the case, i think you'd best pick a z97 Motherboard like this one https://geizhals.at/gigabyte-ga-z97-hd3-a1107961.html

  • 3 weeks later...

I did look up for new new Mobo and for the cost of z97 from ebay in croatia I can buy, a deacent mobo with i7 insted of outdated i5 that i curently have. Second tought was to buy some cheap old PSU that has the ATX that I need and make my own adapter using 24pin atx from an old mobo that stoped working... But I cant find PSU that is not in a case which gives it a price equal to modern PSU that I already have. + HP's case has custom PSU including custom mounting for it so I cant reuse that case if I whant to use stronger PSU.
