ubuntu What should I chose for "Device for boot loader installation" while Ubuntu installation?

I have 2 SSDs. On the first one Windows 10 is installed which is 256 GB. I am installing Ubuntu 20.04 on the other one which is 120 GB.

I have done partitioning but where should I install boot loader ??

If you pick the disk Windows is installed on (/dev/sda, I think), then you should get a boot menu every boot, so you can choose between Windows and Ubuntu. If you install the boot loader on the other disk, you'll have to switch between boot disks in the BIOS any time you want to switch between Windows and Linux.

What you really should be doing is unplugging the Windows drive entirely. No matter which drive you choose, if a bootloader exists already on another drive the OS will always install it alongside. The only way to guarantee it ends up where you want is to unplug everything else.

 

After its installed you can reconnect the Windows drive, boot into Ubuntu and run "sudo update-grub" from Terminal to add Windows to GRUB.

if i have ubuntu installed on an external hard disk will i get the boot menu even if the hdd is unplugged?

I accidentally did the first one

Now how can I fix it
