Info on compatibility

Budget (including currency):

Country:

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I want to build a 9 5900x on a ASUS ROG STRIX X570-F motherboard with a Noctua NH-D15 with a 3080. I need to know if the gpu will fit in the primary slot with the cooler. Did watch a video when the used the godlike motherboard and it didn’t fit.
thanks for the future help.

I've never heard of a situation where the D15 didn't fit because of a GPU. Not sure what was going on in that particular scenario you referenced, but it should not be an issue.

The compatibility concerns that are important are the case and the RAM height. You need low profile RAM or you can only run with a single fan. You also need to ensure that the case is deep enough, as it's a very tall cooler, and you may not be able to get the side panel on with it installed.

If you'd rather avoid compatibility issues entirely, just get a U12A. It has nearly the same performance as the D15, with none of the compatibility issues. I'm cooling my 5900X with a U12S with a second fan added, and it does just fine. The U12A has both a better heatsink, and has better fans.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X · Cooler: Artic Liquid Freezer II 280 · Motherboard: MSI MEG X570 Unify · RAM: G.skill Ripjaws V 2x16GB 3600MHz CL16 (2Rx8) · Graphics Card: ASUS GeForce RTX 3060 Ti TUF Gaming · Boot Drive: 500GB WD Black SN750 M.2 NVMe SSD · Game Drive: 2TB Crucial MX500 SATA SSD · PSU: Corsair White RM850x 850W 80+ Gold · Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow · Monitor: MSI Optix MAG342CQR 34” UWQHD 3440x1440 144Hz · Keyboard: Corsair K100 RGB Optical-Mechanical Gaming Keyboard (OPX Switch) · Mouse: Corsair Ironclaw RGB Wireless Gaming Mouse

That’s awesome to know. Thanks for the info. I know 5900x runs hot and wasn’t sure the u12 would be good enough. Here is the link

it’s 8minutes in where the problem is.

Large tower coolers can overhang the top pcie slot, so it can be an issue depending on the board layout.

If you are buying a Noctua cooler then you can check motherboard compatibility on their website. It will flag any issues such as blocking the top pcie slot.

Especially if the gpu has a backing plate.

-----------

Like many enthusiast motherboards the Strix X570-F uses the 2nd from the cpu area slot position for the first x16 (gpu) slot, avoiding the problem altogether.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
