Hi,

Sorry, I'm new to USB-C peripherals and dongles, so I'm sorry if this question is mundane.

I'm looking for a good USB-C dongle for my Lenovo Yoga 6 13ARE05.

The dongle needs to have Ethernet adapter (1Gbps or higher), HDMI or Display Port (preferably having both), and Power Delivery pass through. USB 3.0 type A hub is optional, same as SD or micro SD card reader. No need headphone jack. Do I need to get a 65W or 90W power adapter (My Lenovo Yoga 6 power adapter only 45W, 20V 2.25A)?

If possible, I need USB on-the-go support as well.

Regards,

Chiyawa

I'm not really sure if the laptop supports it. I don't think you can have all of that from usb-c 3.0, data only.

I'm pretty sure that it doesn't support HDMI over dongle, they are exclusive to Thunderbolt laptop.

60w or 90w doesn't matter if the laptop only suck 45w, all you need to match is the voltage.

It's a waste of money to buy higher watt charger if you ask me.

This laptop does support display output. There are 2 USB-C port, 1 can support Display out, Power Delivery and data transfer, while the other only support data transfer and display port according to the manual at page 6: https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/yoga_6_13are_ug_en.pdf.

That's nice, most ryzen (budget) laptop don't support it.

Love to see more ryzen with full usb-c function.

I see. I think I spotted many laptops began to offer USB-C with alternate mode including Ryzen APU one (but still no Thunderbolt support). Still I would rather to have assortment of IO ports than dongle. I don't really like the idea of carrying extra accessories for ports. Too bad thin and light are so thin it's hard to include many bigger ports. HP Spectre X360 only has 2 USB-C ports.

Having TB would increase the cost, i'll skip that, all i care is hdmi over usb which is a luxury in ryzen, unlike intel where even some celeron has it.

Oh. Well, if your system do support USB-C alternate version, it should be able to support display output.

But generally, I don't like USB-C. It's so confusing and non standardised. Manufacturer can choose to opt in or opt out the features. And don't get me started with the flimsy ports that can be easily shorted or destroy if you don't plug in straight. I had an issue that someone plug in too rough, and the whole USB-C port was destroyed. Had to change the whole motherboard for that.
