Hey Guys and Gals,

 

Can a Ryzen 5 3600 be changed to a Ryzen 5 5600x without needing to reinstall windows?

 

I know my motherboard can handle it with current bios as can my Power supply and cooler.

I dont want to have to reinstall every program again.

yes upgrading wont be an issue as long as you have the right bios update that upgrades to at least AGESA 1.1.0.0, most manufacturers have given AGESA 1.2.0.0 on B450 and B550 I think and that works as well.

you do have to update the chipset driver first

I will get new chipset drivers from ASRock B450 Steel Legend.

I only recall one set of install drivers from install disk but will check their site.

get chipset drivers from AMD instead, it would be more up-to-date and is not board specific anyway
