Hey everyone, I'm back!

So I posted a topic for help picking out a SSD, and now it's here.  Problem is, I have no clue what to do.  I've tried using the Samsung Data migration software, but it seems like you can only choose which files to exclude and it limits it to just media files(correct me if I am wrong).  Should I just do a fresh install?  And if so, how do I do this?

Another question, can I keep all the files on my old hard drive, and not wipe it?  And if I want to put some of those files onto my SSD what do I do, just drag and drop, or does it not work that way?  Sorry, I'm not very knowledgeable with storage.

Always clean install (use the cd or download a ISO and create a bootable usb using LiLi or other programs)

yes you can drag and drop

What exactly do I do for a clean install?  From what information I have gathered, it seems like you just unplug the old harddrive and install windows on the SSD?

Yes.  You need to unplug the HDD so the bootloader and other files are written to the SSD instead of sharing with the hard drive

Exactly it.

Okay, so I feel really stupid now, I really over thought this!

Now, when it comes to picking the programs to transfer to my harddrive, I can move any to my SSD?

And if I were to transfer games, will I have to change where they save and such?  Like save stats and campaign progress.

Only steam games will transfer correctly pretty sure, programs usually can't be transferred over.  You'll have to reinstall them :(

Okay, so I must have messed something up. I unplugged my hard drive, and went to install windows on my ssd. Well, I get to choosing the disk to install to, and my ssd shows up, but I can't install on it. It says something about being a GPT Partition or something like that. Also, I think I might've deleted the drivers off of it somehow?

I'm off for the night, and wont be able to work on my computer until around 5:30(EST) Tomorrow. But I'll have my phone to post.

You should have the option of formatting the drive when installing Windows. I think someone else had the GPT message too, but you should be able to delete the partition and create a new one.

Okay, well I deleted the partitions, there were three! Installing Windows now. Got up early so I can get this thing to work!

I'm shocked there were any partitions at all! Glad you got it all working! Let us know when it's done, I'll link you to an "SSD tweak guide." don't have it right this second.

Most important thing is to make sure Defrag is disabled for the SSD. And never ever perform one on the SSD.
