HDD with GPT

Heya all, do you know what is exactly a GPT HDD system or w/e it is? and why i couldnt install windows in such a HDD?

GPT stands for GUID Partition Table (GPT), it is a method used for 'partitioning' hard drives, it is used for drives that are larger than 2TB. By default windows can only recognize up to 2.2TB. According to Microsoft, only 64-bit versions of Windows Vista and 7 can be installed on GPT drives.

Because you have to install gentoo to use it.

No you dont, it works with windows from windows server 2003 32-bit and 64-bit {so vista, 7, 8 and server 2008 can use it just fine}

the problem was that i couldnt install windows on that disk, windows error message said that i cant proceed installing windows (either windows 7 or windows 8) on that HDD, so i finally changed the GPT via CMD using a guide found on google...

after doing what this guy says i could install windows 7 and windows 8 on this HDD (but the disk is no more of GPT "type" )
