Replacing non boot hard drive

vieirabros

Hi, my non boot hard drive is failing at 23% health and is making a very loud noise so I'm going to be buying a new one, can anyone give me a rundown on steps I need to take to replace the failing hard drive? Would I need to buy any new cables or if I get the exact same model would I be able to just swap it out and use cables that were connected to the previous HDD?

You can swap it out and use the existing cables.

You don't have to get the same model, and as long as you're using the same kind of drive (it's basically guaranteed to be a 3.5" SATA drive if it's in a desktop) then you don't need any cables.
