Should I upgrade?

Budget (including currency): ~

Country: Canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Asus V Rampage X mobo

i7 5960x cpu

GTX 1080ti gpu

32GB 2400mhz ram

Corsair AX1200i power supply

500gb ssd

1tb ssd

4tb hdd

This is my original build from back in 2015 with the addition of a 1tb ssd and switching to a GTX 1080ti. Though I am wondering if I should upgrade my cpu/mobo or if my system is still good, I never did overclock my cpu since I didn't want higher temps. Though I was thinking of getting a new pc case for better air flow and getting another ssd to fit more games.

Well does your system play games at an acceptable level of performance? Are you looking to get better performance and want to upgrade? It really depends on you. The 1080 ti is no slouch but neither is the 5960x. Could you get a new cpu and motherboard and potentially get better performance? Yes but I wouldn't expect any massive gains so idk if it is worth it to you. I also know people who simply like upgrading their pc and it isn't as much about the gain in performance as it is about simply getting to mess around with their pc. This is totally a personal decision so its hard to weigh in if it is really worth it to you.

Hmmm regarding performance, not sure if it's my cpu or gpu that's bottlenecking but like recently playing Cyberpunk 2077, I had to run on the lowest settings possible just to get 60 fps which I did not like doing. If all I need to do is overclock my cpu then ok. I bought this pc back then because of the features the mobo had at that time, not even sure if it's fully utilized since I didn't assemble it, had NCIX assemble it for me but it seems they didn't even bother to hook up most of the features available on the mobo.

my 1080Ti had no problem in Cyberpunk, so it's your CPU.  it's not that good of a gaming chip, clock speeds are slow.  Not sure how far you can OC it, worth a try.

Don't blame NCIX, you've had 6 years to hook up the mobo features  Not sure what features you're talking about but none I know of will give you additional performance for gaming.

May want to look at the current gen chips if you want gaming performance, 5600x is a great chip.  5900x if you need all those cores for some reason.

RAM is on the slower side, so you're losing a few frames there as well, worst case.

thats not how it works. you don't "hook up" motherboard features, either the motherboard has it or not. you're gaming performance cannot be blamed for your motherboard

Youre slow ram will suck for Ryzen but it wouldnt be worth buying new ram so personally I would buy a 10850k and a z490. the ram still wont be great but the performance gap on intel is smaller.
