Budget (including currency): $1500 usd

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: CoD Warzone, WoW, Apex, most AAA shooters honestly. I do not use this rig for work but I do stream about 3-4 days a week.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I tend to upgrade in chunks ever 4-5yrs so I like to future proof when I can (ex. I just got a 1440p 240hz 27" monitor that I do not plan on changing for years). My goal with the upgrade is to begin to utilize the new monitor without an entire rebuild (if possible). Would love any help as choosing what to upgrade and to what extent can be mind boggling with the choices available.

Existing build notes:

MB: Asus Z170-A.

CPU: i7-6700k

GPU: NVIDIA RTX 2070

RAM: 16gb

Based on your specs. I would assume that CPU is a bottleneck. And you may want to look into upgrading that and your mobo.

Your current CPU is a quad core with hyperthreading.

I would suggest an AMD 5600x for an almost 2x performance boost.

If you wait for them to come in stock. You could do that full upgrade for under 600 bucks.

The next CPU in that stack I would suggest is the 5900x. As the 5800x isn't a big enough step up to justify twice the price.
The 5900x is about x2 the 5600x.

I do have an SSD for OS and some games. I have standard HD for things like CoD that are just too massive for me to justify SSD for.

As for the bottle neck its for sure the CPU just running warzone at 1440p now I am hitting like 80-100 fps with CPU capping. I was shopping around and it seems some of the intel CPUs are in stock. Do you think going all in on an i9 or i7 would be comparable or is the play just to full swap over to AMD?

The current generation intel CPUs are kind of a joke. They are so bad, that with AMD constantly being sold out, intel is in stock.
don't get me wrong. It would still be an upgrade. But, you're going to get much more bang for the buck on amd.

Also a quick ebay search shows that AMD 5600x are currently selling 50 dollars over MSRP. showing that supply has almost caught up with demand. And getting one shouldn't be that hard.

Honestly it looks like a ton of people bought the 5600x because they where easier to get on launch (I was also able to snag one on launch)
And after getting their 5900x, they are selling hardly used 5600xs.

Ok I will keep an eye out for the 5600x, the 5900x is in stock now but not 100% if I want to pull the trigger on a $700 cpu especially since I would need a new motherboard with it. Speaking of which is there a board you would recommend when going AMD? I don't have any experience in the AMD line.
