Hi guys, recently ive noticed that my pc is running slow compared to how it should be running

  • 2070 super
  • Ryzen 7 2700
  • 16gb 3600 Hz Ram
  • Samsung 980 1 tb PCIe 3.0
  • ROG STRIX B450

I was wondering if i should update my bios, though i know this update makes it ryzen 3rd gen compatible. My question in, if i update my bios, will my CPU be compatible?

Not sure on my current bios version as I'm at work atm, though once I'm back ill add to this

Sorry if this is common knowledge

How much slower is "slow"? Maybe your system is throttling down because of overheating. Maybe check temps before doing anything, since it's easy and fast to do. 🙂

Yes, HWiNFO is a great software. Probably the best of its kind, and it's free.

Well any normal person would go on the manufacturer website, to your motherboard model, and go to Download Bios section and READ THE RELEASE NOTES for each bios.

One would think that if a bios disables/removes support for some series of processors, they would have an obvious note in the bios release notes / changes / readme for that bios.

Also, worth reading those change notes every time, because some bioses don't really offer any improvements worth risking making your system more unstable.

For example, let's say they release a bios which only adds pci-e resizable bar, but you have an older video card that won't benefit from the feature - in that case what's the point of updating the bios if your system works perfectly at the moment....
