I recently got an IBuyPower PC (AMD Ryzen 5600x, Nvidia 3070 in a Lian Li Mesh 2) with what is supposed to be a pretty good psu, the Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 650W. The problem I'm having with it is that it is by far the loudest part of my computer, and is constantly ramping up and down in volume. From a meter away, playing Resident Evil Village, its about 44 db. The problem with swapping it is that I'm limited to the selection given on this page to pick from. Im wondering if I should try to swap for a quieter PSU, and if so, which one. I originally went with the GF1 because it was gold in the A tier list, but it is extremely loud.

That's a standard ATX power supply, so if you're comfortable swapping it yourself, you can buy pretty much any PSU you want.

650 watts should be ok, but that's lower than I would go for a 3070. I'd shoot for 750 watts to give room for those transient power spikes that the 3000 series is known for.

Nope, don't need to select it from there. If you don't mind voiding your warranty (by removing your psu and swapping it out), I'd go for an enermax revolution D.F 850. Great psu, more than enough power that'll last you a while

Why are you limited to that page? It's just a normal psu?

Get the rm750 it's a good psu and quiet.

Good on you for picking the mesh case!

Thanks for the reply. Because its from Ibuypower, worst case scenario is I cant return only the psu for a full refund without swapping it for one on that list. Best case scenario, I can send just the psu back for a refund on that part, then just put my own in.

What're your thoughts on the Be Quiet lineup?

Too broad of a question for me to answer. They have some really good units, they make some 'meh' units, some of their older units really suck.

It's a lineup... In the current lineup, it goes from the System Power 9, which is very basic and should only really be used with low end systems, to the Dark Power Pro 12, which is one of the best PSUs on the market. Everything else is between those

:)

Lol, yeah, I guess that was a badly worded question. Also, in the list I linked, is the Corsair RM750x the the same one as the gold corsair RMx in the A tier? I cant tell because a manufacturing year is included in the tier list for it. If so, the reviews for it say at around 650W load its only about 20 db, only huts 35 at full load, seems pretty good

Yes.  RMx is RMx.  The tier list is confusing.
