Square creator for Instagram?

I need something for Windows (and also something for Android if you know of)

 

That can put my photos into a black square for sharing on Instagram. I have some 16:9 photography and Instagram doesn't display those well in my profile, and I noticed that some bigger accounts put their widescreen images into a black square so they show the full image when someone looks at my profile.

 

Preferrably something drag and drop, I don't want to mess with Photoshop for each image as that is time consuming. And I don't mind a bump down in quality since it's for instagram.

 

Does that even make sense? I don't know how to explain it. Thanks.

you can do it in any image app stupidly easy.

 

1) Look at your photo and figure out the dimensions.  (Pretend it's 1500x2500)

 

2) Make a 2500x2500 square image in <image editor of choice> (MS Paint can do that easily)

 

3) Copy/paste your existing image into the black image.

 

4) Save or Resize and  Save.

 

Done.

this can be easily done in any photo editor.

 

Instagram has mainly 3 aspect ratios

1080 x 1080 [1:1] square

1080 x 1350 [4:5] portrait

1080 x 608 [1.91:1] landscape

 

so basically you need to put your landscape photo {16:9} in square {1:1}

I think this is the easiest method. without installing anything

 

1. photopea . com > create new project

2. choose Instagram 1080 x 1080 with black Background

3. drag and drop or choose the image

Easiest would be to shoot in 1:1 from start. But if you need app, InShot is the editor I use for Android as it is imo slicker than Photoshop Express. For Windows, you can use the default Photos app.
