A friend of mine needs a laptop for graphic design

Budget (including currency): Under 2000 BGN / 1200 USD

Country: Bulgaria

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:

Other details: He wants it to have 17' IPS display, 512GB SSD and 16 GB RAM

I have stopped my eyes on Acer Nitro 5 AN517-41-R7KC, but he said he doesn't want it to look gamer-like (Weird person ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

Well thats gonna be next to impossible. Since the majority of GPU usage is gaming, almost all machines (except for the very pricy ones that are industry-level) with good GPUS are gonna be gamer-focused. You are either gonna have to find a SUPER specific- case computer, or he is gonna have to suck it up.

Basically, if he wants budget value, gaming systems are the best option.

Another potential option is a PC SPECIALIST laptop, as you can customize the parts and, for the most part, they aren't super gamer-like. Just make sure they can ship to you; their shipping locations are relatively limited (I was looking at one myself, but they don't ship to Canada 😞)

no thats quite normal as "gamer like" hardware is just a sea of terrible cheap plastic and colored lights.

Seeing as how they are not using the computer for gaming do not select a gaming oriented machine.

You could also try the Dell G5 15 SE. Gaming laptop, but looks like a more traditional dell laptop. Last years specs tho, but if your friend isn't too fussy about having the latest & greatest and just needs to get by, its an option.
