i9 10850K OC and Benchmarks Help

Oh and after I get the fan in  gonna replace whatever TIM that is on it with some Arctic MX-4 just to make sure everything's kosher and to hopefully help temps once I start using it.

MX-4 is really decent paste. Probably be somewhat of an improvement of a couple Celsius. Use it on the video card if you want also.

Yeah that's what I meant I'm gonna replace it on the GPU. My fingers get ahead of me sometimes when I'm typing sorry LMAO.

I had another question. Since my CPU has onboard video(never had that before) when I go to install the GPU will I need to disable the onboard somehow? And if I do have to disable it will that put less strain on the CPU as well maybe be able to OC it a little more or does that not have an effect on it??

Yes CPU temps should lower a touch.

The board "should" automatically run the PCI-E as dedicated graphics when the card is installed. You shouldn't have to do anything except clear the cmos during the power down to install the card. Any time you swap hardware, you should clear cmos for safe measure.

Ok awesome I did know about clearing the CMOS I just wasn't sure on the onboard vs dedicated stuff but that's great. The CPU already has great temps but every little bit helps of course lol. I'll just be happy as hell once I get a real GPU in there then I would love to upgrade to a 3xxx card whenever they're available. I have OCD pretty bad and not having a GPU in this rig is really tweaking my brain because of it.

Yeah the Intel iGpu is really poor for any real gaming. Anything will do significantly better.

Well it looks like an inexpensive chance. If the top 3 a look the same on the list, it's probably the right fan.

A 10850K completely smashes the AMD 2200G haha. No holds barred there man XD.

Maybe GeekBench 5 for system comparisons instead?

I'm assuming what you meant by that is there shouldn't be any bottlenecking right?? Like they should accentuate each other correct??

Well the 10850K will be over-kill for the 1050ti for sure. There are much larger cards out there.... So the Gpu would still be the constraint on resolution, graphics detail settings and FPS of that within. But still way way way WAY better than that iGpu lol.

Gotcha I really appreciate the help on all of this, I'll owe you a beer or something. Just curious where you from?? I'm in Illinois on the west side of the state straight across from Chicago, but I'm originally from Louisiana but I'm stuck here for now LMAO.

Oh wow that's very cool that we don't live very far apart, that's the closest anyone has lived to me on a forum before, but I've definitely have made some awesome friends before on forums that's for sure. Thank you.

Woohoo it finally came in thank God. Surgery will be performed later tonight it's gonna get a good cleaning and new thermal paste then install the fan and install it. I know it's not the best card but I'm looking forward to it. I'm hoping I'll be able to play American Trucker Simulator with one of my brothers. I'll post back when I get everything done and installed and let you know how it does, have a great day!!!

Well I've gotten this far on it so far, just been taking my time so I don't accidentally mess something up and not having another GPU to fall back to I think that's a good thing lol. I know it's nothing Earth shattering just doing progress pics of what I've done.

All back together and ready to install, but I'm having a late dinner so it depends on how I feel afterwards if I complete it tonight or not.

Well damnit I guess there's something wrong with the GPU, I cleared CMOS installed the card it booted up fine it let me install the drivers and everything. It let me open up HWInfo and it recognized the card started to look at a few things and then the system froze had a blue screen it rebooted went to pull up HWInfo again and it froze again. So I reset it booted up and then it went through the POST lights on the MOBO but no picture. I also left the card installed and put the HDMI in the onboard GPU and it wouldn't boot that way. So I took the card out left it in the onboard and it boots up without an issue. I just can't catch a damn break I swear. Anybody have any insight with this that might help me??? Please let me know.

I also checked to make sure the fan was spinning and it was. I also touched the heatsink and the back of the card and only the back of the card was just barely warm. I'm not sure what else I can do.

Was it functioning correctly before the disassembly/repaste job?

That looks like a mattress. Were you wearing socks and on carpeted floor by chance?

It's the card that came in the used system my nephew got but the fan was broke that's why I got a new fan. So I didn't get to test it before. It is a bed but it was just there to take the pictures. No socks but I do have it's almost like indoor outdoor carpet. I'll post a pic. I've never had any kind of static electricity when I've touched anything before and I was wearing my rubber slippers so I'm not 100% sure but don't think is was static, but of course I could be wrong. There's a pic of the shoes and carpet.

When I wear my rubber slides, I built up a TON of static electricity because they insulate your feet and prevent you from grounding yourself to the floor. So you end up discharging that static when you touch things with your hands.

Barefoot is best. Although given the condition of the card, it's probably more likely it was already damaged before you started working on it.

Any idea how long the fan was broken? If a GPU is allowed to overheat for months it could be permanently damaged. It might work a little after you boot up but as soon as you install the drivers, it might become unstable and unusable. About all you can do is try testing it in a different computer to see if it works properly. Try running any sort of benchmark just to see if it is stable. GPU-Z has a simple built in test to load the GPU. Click on the blue question mark ? on the right hand side of GPU-Z about half way down to run a render test. If that passes you can try something like the Heaven benchmark.

I don't know, never had a problem like this before I've built quite a few systems and this was the first one I couldn't get a GPU for because we'll y'all know that. I'm just aggravated to no end. Thanks for the reply.

I wish I had a second system to put it in to test it but this was my first system I was able to build since 2009 got hurt pretty bad and I'm not able to work and I just recently got approved for my disability and I built this. I'm gonna give it a rest tonight and regroup and then I'll check it out more tomorrow. I'm just pissed cause I finally found a card, it was free however, then bought the fan and waited over 3 weeks for it to arrive and then this happens. I'm just in a seriously bad mood because of this but it's all good. Thanks for the reply. Y'all have a great night.

Ok everyone the verdict is in the 1050ti I got is definitely a bad card. I've been doing troubleshooting for about the last 3 days, I tried every possible scenario to try and get it working but it was no joy. So now  gonna try to find something comparable to the 1050ti. This really has me bummed out because of the time I waited for the fan to come in and then all of the stuff I done to troubleshoot all of it. But at least I have a new paperweight, because that is the only thing it's good for.
