Hello everyone,

I'm planning on building a new computer in the near future, however, I don't have extensive experience with building custom pc's.

I would really appreciate if people could give some opinions on the configuration:

  • CPU: Intel Core i9-10900K
  • CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken Z73
  • Mobo: Asus ROG Maximus XIII Hero
  • Storage: Samsung 980 PRO, 1TB SSD, m.2
  • Case: Asus GX601 ROG Strix Helios
  • PSU: Asus ROG Thor 850P 850W
  • RAM: G.Skill DDR4-3600 (CL18) 64GB (4x 16GB)
  • GPU: Asus GeForce GT 710 (see "GPU note")
  • OS: Window 10 Home

GPU Note: I'm planning on buying a 3080(ti) once prices become somewhat more interesting (next year hopefully).
As a temporary option, this seemed like the cheapest card that can push the 4 screens that I'm running.

Regards,

Kevin

Thanks for you reaction, however, in further research I did some findings that might help other readers in the future.

The i9 10900K only supports up to PCIe 3.0, which causes only 3 of the 4 m.2 slots on the motherboard to function.

Additionally, the 980 PRO will not be able to run to its maximum speeds because PCIe 4.0 is not enabled.

Finally, I read somewhere (don't know if it's true) that PCIe 3.0 will sometimes cap the performance of your GPU.

The configuration's CPU was updated with the i9 11900K which does support PCIe 4.0 (bye 10 core, OOF!).
