Hi,

I'm using an MSI Vega 56 Air Boost and an Acer ET322QK monitor that supports 4K and Freesync. Both are connected using a DP cable and the Radeon software and drivers are up to date.

Now my problem is regardless of the game I play, Vsync and Freesync don't work: enabling Vsync will lock the framerate at 30 instead of 60, and disabling it will make the GPU run at full speed and screen tearing gets very noticeable. I checked on both the Radeon software and the monitor's OSD that Freesync is enabled so I'm not sure what to do.

As of now my only option was to disable Vsync and lock the framerate using an external software but it doesn't always work so I'm looking for the root cause of the issue.

I didn't have this problem with my Nvidia card although it was a different monitor but overall the experience has been worse since I switched the AMD so I'm considering going team green when the prices are back to normal.

Thanks!

60. Why?

Try cap it at 59/58/57.

I could try that but I'm looking for a long-term solution as to why Vsync/Freesync aren't working.

But it's working though? That monitor Freesync range is too narrow. 40-60
When you limit your FPS, always limit it a few frames lower.

No it's not since Vsync caps the framerate at 30 even when the game allows to set it to 60.
