Hi everyone, this is going to be my second ever build and I wanted to see if anyone could offer me any advice or anything like that.

Here is the PcPartPicker Link

Thanks for any feedback and I would just like to note that I won't be ordering any parts until late this summer.

is it not possible for you to salvage an old hard drive of a dying laptop or an old ps3 or something? A small cost cut like that can really help at this budget.

Also I'm not trying to advocate for piracy but windows 7 licenses are ridiculously expensive (windows licenses in general). There are ways to get windows 7 for free... I'll leave it at that.

If both the two things I mention can get taken care of, then I can recommend a muuuuch better build.

Oh god that motherboard is horrendous. It has one of the worst VRM designs of any motherboard still sold. You would be better off putting your cpu and ram into a bowl of water. \

Find a better mobo, and buy the cpu and mobo at microcenter for $40

[AMD Athlon 64 Mobile 4000+ Socket 754 | Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro nForce3 | OCZ 2GB DDR PC3200 | Sapphire HD 3850 512MB AGP | 850 Evo | Seasonic 430W | Win XP/10]

Haha I really don't have much sense when it comes to these things, it being my second build and all.  Any suggestions for a comparable board?

I cant say I have any issues for not paying for Windows, but no spare systems around here.

Here's what I can get you if you remove windows and download it for free from... uuuuuh 100% legal websites haha

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3iLOA
Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3iLOA/by_merchant/

CPU: Intel Core i5-4440 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($179.99 @ Amazon) (miles ahead of FX-6300. The fx-6300 will bottleneck even a 760 so it's worth paying more for this IMO)
Motherboard: MSI H81M-P33 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($48.98 @ OutletPC) (excellent motherboard for the price)
Memory: GeIL EVO Veloce Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($62.99 @ Newegg) (cheap ram, good ram and looks nice)
Storage: Crucial M500 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk  ($73.48 @ SuperBiiz) (cheap SSD, should be more reliable than 840 evo because of the type of NAND it uses)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($54.99 @ NCIX US) (great cheap hard drive)
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 770 2GB Video Card  ($309.99 @ NCIX US) (a lot better than a 760. It's basically a rebranded 680 that was improved a little, while the 760 is a 660 ti that was improved a little)
Case: Cooler Master N200 MicroATX Mid Tower Case  ($44.99 @ Micro Center) (good case for the price)
Power Supply: Corsair Builder 430W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($19.99 @ Newegg) (430W will be more than enough)
Total: $795.40
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

Oh and of course the Asus 770 has a nice DCUII cooler on it

Anything Gigabyte is good. I would highly recommend a 990FX board of any manufacturer

I'm sorry, did you say a FX 6300 will bottleneck a GTX 760? Wat? Are you joking?

Good to know.  I find myself really liking MSI for some reason even though I have only bought one product from them (my current board) so I'm really clueless when it comes to shopping for parts.

it will a little. This might give a little idea:

CPU-scaling.png

dual core i3 beats octa core 8350... how embarassing

naaah I kid I kid. In reality the 4440 is quite a bit better than the FX-6300 and the 6300 will bottleneck a little but it's not a huge bottleneck.

Their low budget AMD boards suck nuts

Far Cry 3 is poorly written for multicore CPUs. An overclocked Core 2 Duo can beat a 4670K. All the OP needs to do is overclock to somewherew in the 4.5GHz range and he will enjoy a smooth gaming experience in 99% of games.
