can you see your fans are working properly ? why are they 0% in CPUID?

sorry i didnt mention.. i dont have any of the case fans connected up to the motherboard. only the cpu fan in the cpu header. (also that fan speed shown in the bios there is at full rpm)

If I were to buy a new fan say the notua fan that linus uses in his benchamrking videos... would that make much of a difference do you think? the fan i have may be defecitve. it seems to be fine at idle now but under load it still goes up to 90 degrees celsius for 4.0ghz.

Didn't you say "i had taken out the stock fan and placed a silverstone AP12". Put the old one back and check the temps. Make sure when you apply you put a pea size.

Also what are your load temps on default settings. Do a complete bios reset.

yes i did replace the fan.. i guess im pulling at straws here...

I had it on vCore (normal) and Milti-step Load-line (lvl 4) ....

I changed the Vcore to 1.25V

I saw this on a guide on toms hardware (sorry dont have the link atm)

its currently reading 33-36 degrees celsius for idle and 80-86 degrees under load. (taken from real-temp 3.70)

So i was getting quite annoyed with it so I went out and bought a CM 212 and put that on instead.. they were having a sale for $15 (seemed good enough)

put it on. put the turbo up to 40 seemed stable after 30 minutes of stress testing.. put it up to 45x

(this is after about 30minutes of testing)

https://www.dropbox.com/s/t1i5tnt87b84b71/modified%20load.png

got these as load results and its currently idling at around 32-36 degrees.

these are defintally a hell of a lot better than with the V8, but do these results seem normal.. ish?

Voltage settings ive changed:

Multi-Setp Load-Line [Lvl 7]

CPU Vcore [1.240V]

left all the settings under the "advanced CPU core features" tab as they were (appart from the turbo to 45 and enabling 'Internal CPU PLL Overvoltage)

no idea if that was the right thing to do or not but it seems to be doing all right..

does this seem right? and is there anything I should change for it to be more efficient ?

Thanks for reading . DB

I wasn't using the stock heatsink. I was using the coolermaster V8 ... I thinink it was just faulty.

Thanks for everyones help on this. Much appreciated. Excellent community.

Cheers,
