Directional speakers (SRAY, or some... samsung neck speaker whatever)

Any idea if these products ever became a real thing? And if so, do they actually work?

 

I'm looking for an alternative for headphones for hot summer nights, and I don't want to bother my better half with my game sounds by using actual speakers.
