I was wondering thoughts on the M1 iPad Pro and who might be the target consumer for it?      I currently have the 16'' MacBook Pro I use for video/photo editing. I use the adobe suit for all my projects. I am currently rapping up my first and entering my second year of college for Electrical Engineering. Recently my MacBook was out of commission for a few days. I realized there, how much I depend on that machine. I used a very inexpensive Chromebook that the university lets you rent. Lets just say I appreciate the ability to own such a fast machine. I know people hate on apple, while the prices are excessive, I like the ecosystem.

I am wondering would the addition of the M1 iPad be great for my work flow. From taking notes in college classes, schematic design, video ideas, photo/video editing in premiere rush, and many applications where I would need digital notes.I know the price is a bit much, plus a keyboard and apple pencil we are talking $1400. I got some money saved so while it is a lot it's manageable. I personally like the idea of having a second device, sounds dumb maybe, but having my MacBook that has everything on it and using the iPad for mainly school and walking around campus as it weighs less.      OR would the Rocket notebook that allows you to write down physical notes and scan them digitally work better?      OR would getting Chromebook work as well?

Thanks for your time and responses!

It's not out yet, but I do have some opinions on the current state of iPad OS in general. The M1 iPad seems to be abut unification of processes and a bet on the future. For your professional that already has a defined workflow with a desktop OS, it isn't going to be very fluid switching over to this kind of setup.

Terrible title that totally contradicts the conclusion aside, I think this Mac Address video highlights the faults pretty well.

Though if you're already used to the iPad workflow... idk. For what it would take to get a laptop like experience, I'd just get an M1 Air, personally.
