the power supply is a powerspec 650 fully modular 80+ gold, pc part picker didn't have it on the website.

CPU is two generations back.

 

CPU cooler comes with a tube of thermal compound.

 

M.2 drive should really be larger. It and the SATA ssd could be replaced with a 2TB NVMe drive around the same cost.

 

The psu tier list suggests the psu is tier c,

 

I would have chosen a motherboard with WiFi.

thanks for the comments, a bit of an edit, this is my current build. i only put the thermal paste on there to show which one i used.  that was the only board microcenter had at the time.  i upgraded from a i7 4790k, .i usually keep the boot drive clear of anything other than the os and the gpu drivers.
