Budget (including currency): Rs. 2,00,000/- (approximate: 2500$)

Country: India

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Valorant, Fortnite, Apex, COD etc, work: lot of android studio, adobe photoshop, after effects etc

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Hey guys,

I was looking to build a pc this year(within the next 2 months) and I'm really bad at choosing most of the parts.

Specs needed:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800x

GPU: I'm not sure yet (leaning towards rtx 3060)

Motherboard: after a lot of google search decided on MSI mag x570 tomahawk WIFI (any other suggestions)

RAM: Minimum 32GB at 3600Mhz (was looking at corsair RGB pro series)

PSU: after a quick google search I figured 750w 80 plus gold should be enough but still not sure

Monitor: LG 32inch 144hz monitor 2k(already own this: LG-32GK650)

SSD: is needed but not sure how much, maybe 500gb of m,2? I don't know actually...

HDD: need at least 2TB of storage for games and work (7200rpm)

Cooler: I think a basic AIO should be enough(corsair H100i aio), but any better suggestions?

Case: I need a white case that will go good with the present workspace, I had corsair 4000x in mind. (not able to find anything else good in a low budget)

I don't own any pc parts presently so need to buy everything from scratch (except Monitor, keyboard, mouse)

I am upgrading from a HP pavilion laptop

specs: Intel Core i5-8250U, NVIDIA GeForce 940MX, 16 GB RAM 2400Mhz, 60hz display

For reference I get around 55-60 fps on Valorant on lowest settings.

It would be nice if someone could guide me as I can't upgrade for the next 3-4 years min

Sorry for my bad English 😄

Thank you for your time and help!

I'd say, save yourself a bit of money and just go for a lower-end B550 because you really don't need all the firepower of an X570 board unless you actually know exactly what you'll use it for. B550 comes with 2 m.2 slots, plenty of USB most of the time, and there's a lot in the world that have Wi-Fi as well, and VRMs and memory overclocking support  that keeps up with and often exceed their mid-range tier X570 price competitors.

For CPU, the 5900X is definitely worth the extra change if you can spare it, and for cooling you'll be more than (and yes, I mean this from experience here) fine with an NH-D15. I have a 280mm radiator that keeps my 5900X which runs all cores at 4.7GHz with 1.37V at a cool 70-75C, which is really, really good. All those cores is definitely going to help out with your After Effects workload as well, especially when it comes to render times, and will definitely make up for its cost, and with the chiplet design it'll be much more comfortable under the relatively cheaper NH-D15 (as compared to an AIO anyway) when it comes to cooling.

GPU I'd say a 3060 12GB will do you just fine, especially given the price point you're pushing with the rest of your setup.

RAM I'd for sure say 32GB is a need for your creative workloads, I'd try for 3600MHz CL16 but at those timings you're probably pushing the more expensive TridentZ RGB or TridentZ Neo kits, but honestly with the B-Die those kits use you could easily push even a 3200MHz kit to 3600MHz and save yourself a buck or two, or even try pushing your 3600MHz kit to 4000MHz if you wanted, but if you feel comfortable with learning how to overclock memory, a 3200MHz 2x16GB TridentZ Neo or RGB kit with that Samsung B-Die will happily overclock to 3600MHz and save you some change.

SSD, definitely have enough for a scratch disk and all your media. I'd say you want a WD SN750 1TB or a 970 EVO 1TB, both are pretty pricey but you can often find great deals on them. I have yet to do more research on what makes NVMe storage good and bad, but it's just as valuable as knowing everything about CPU's, and more complicated. Double down on researching those so you know what you need, but I'd for sure say you at least want 1TB of NVMe for games, media, and scratch disk.

good monitor can't really complain, must've cost you a limb or two though

PSU you pretty much got that right

My profile picure is real. That's what I look like in real life. I'm actually a blue and white African Wild Dog.

Use PC Part Picker to check your current build price and compatibility! Overall you've started yourself off with a decent list.

A Ryzen 7 5800x and any RTX 30 series card will be able to handle the work you're doing. You may want to consider the new AMD gpus if you're going Ryzen as they have some performance boosts built in. Be ready to be patient for a GPU as there is a global shortage - get in a queue now if you can.

Keep an eye on Newegg (or other retailers in India) for sales on RAM and power supplies. Your RAM and PSU specs should do fine. SSD can be fairly small if you're using a HDD for storage -- 256 or 500 GB to run your OS and major programs. SATA SSDs are also a bit cheaper than m.2 still so you could save a little there. Keeping the case, cooler, and ram all in the corsair family will help with any rgb control.

Not really. If you're talking about Resizable Bar Nvidia is catching up fast, its getting better and better each update. Also, while Nvidia GPUs are hard to get right now, AMD is basically impossible.

Big nerd.
