There are straight up better boards for cheaper. Unless you want it specifically for the looks, don't get it.

A board like a MSI B550-A Pro will give you the same performance, but for much cheaper.

CPU:

AMD Ryzen 9 5950x

This is straight up wasted money. Go for a 5600X, which will give you the same gaming performance for much, much cheaper.

GPU:

AMD Radeon 6700xt

Use the money you save from the previous 2 components and upgrade this if possible. If availability doesn't allow you to, it's still a good GPU for competitive games.

Quote

PSU:

Corsair RM 850X

Very good PSU. Has shown to be very relieable in terms of handling the power spikes from RTX3000 and RX6000 GPUs.

Quote

RAM:

Crucial Ballistix 32GB (4x8) 3600mhz CL16

Good RAM and great for the price aswell. But really think about if you need 32GB. For gaming - especially competitive games - you don't need more than 16GB.

OS Storage:

2TB m.2 Firecuda PCIeGen4

The SSD generally is fine, but you'll again overspend on a Gen4 drive that won't give you any performance or noticeable upgrade.

You could go for a 2TB WD Blue SN550 for much cheaper and won't notice any difference.

There are usecases for a Gen4 SSD, but yours isn't one of them.

Is this rig okay?

If you like to burn money, sure. Otherwise i'd change quite a lot.

Rather save the money on the components i talked about and get a better monitor, mouse, keyboard and headphone rather than overspending on a 16 core CPU. This way you'll be more competitive. More expensive is not neccesarily more better when it comes to PC components. Or upgrade the GPU 1 tier up. The performance you'd end up with is going to be better than the build you posted.

Hello All,

I'm looking to be a competitive E-sports gamer so my first rig is going to be a high end gaming pc. I used PC parts picker and got an error for bios now i'm a little worried also due to the short supply of video cards and availability I had to downgrade to an AMD Radeon 6700xt. Can you tell me will this rig work? And will my build allow me to be competitive (spec wise)

MotherBoard:

Gigabyte B550 Vision d

CPU:

AMD Ryzen 9 5950x

GPU:

AMD Radeon 6700xt

PSU:

Corsair RM 850X

RAM:

Crucial Ballistix 32GB (4x8) 3600mhz CL16

OS Storage:

2TB m.2 Firecuda PCIeGen4

Is this rig okay?

I liked the response, I wanted to go with a rtx 3080. That was a definite no go. Okay we’ll go AMD couldn’t find a 6800xt had to go with 6700xt was hard enough getting that had to pay double just to get my hands on it

An RX 6700 XT will still easily play competitive games at very high frame rates. You can still save a lot of money with my other suggestions without sacraficing performance though. You also didn't talk about your case yet. Do you already have one or what is your plan here? I can give you a few recommendations if you want.

I bought the Corsair icue 5000x as well as the thermaltake D100-D5 hardline tubing custom water cool rig. Everything is on order so any recommendations I can change and swap out
