Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):  I have my current pc I built rocking a ryzen 5 3400g with built in vega 11 graphics and have been holding off on a graphics card for a while. A buddy of mine had a MSiR6950 Twin Frozr III

 HD 6950 sitting around his room and offered it to me.  Is there really an upside to switching to that over my current built in graphics? Thanks guys:)

You'll see that the 6950 offers 50-100% better performance depending on API, but lacks DX12. If you're playing older games the 6950 is a big improvement.
