Hi. A quick question. I just bought an ASUS ROG Strix B550 Gaming-F WiFi6. I was kind of excited thinking my phones would be able to charge properly from the ports on it, at the very least, the USB 3.2. This doesn't seem to be the case. I'm wondering if there's a way to increase the output so my phones charge from my desktop faster?

Happy to help.

I don't think you can. Just get a proper charging plug for your strip.

Not that I know of... The USB ports on a motherboard aren't meant for charging, that's what chargers are for. They're used for data transfer to and from your PC.

The only fast charging ports I've seen on PCs were front panel connectors that were directly connected via SATA Power connectors.

USB 3.2 has to support 5V charging with 900mA or 1.5A, which is nothing for modern phones.

USB power is negotiated by both the downstream and upstream ports. The upstream will only advertise as much as its capable of putting out and the downstream will only accept either the maximum of the upstream or a lower power level depending on how the device is configured. You can't change how much power delivery comes from an upstream port. If your mobo has high power ports they're usually marked as such. At the end of the day the only way you're going to get faster charging is to get a device intended for charging which mobo's are not.
